Used to measure images seen through a light microscope. It is a glass disc placed in the eye piece with a 0-100 scale.
Usually 10mm long.
2
Q
What is a scale micrometer ?
A
A precise measuring device with a small scale that is placed in a microscope stage and used to calibrate the value of eyepiece divisions at different magnifications.
Usually 1mm long.
3
Q
Explain in detail how you use an eyepiece graticule.
A
- Place a graticule in the eye piece of the microscope.
- Place the stage micrometer slide onto the stage.
- Line up the eye-piece graticule and the stage micrometer.
- Look along the scales until you see two points that match up.
- Divide the graticule value by the stage micrometer value.
- Divide your answer by 10 micrometers.
This tells you what one until on the eyepiece graticule is.
