○Irreversibly inhibits proton pumps activity.
○Decreases gastric acid secretion.

●Side Effects:
○Diarrhoea
○Nausea
○Vomiting
○Abdominal Pain

Aluminium hydroxide- antacids

A

Neutralise HCl

Antacids are drugs that neutralise the hydrochloric acid in your stomach, e.g. Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium Hydroxide, and/or Sodium Bicarbonate. An alginate is derived from seaweed and form a physical protective barrier on top of the stomach. Combo products can be purchased over the counter: Gaviscon, Rennie Duo etc. Medication does not STOP acid being produced

●Effects:
○Neutralises excess stomach acid.

●Side Effects:
○Diarrhoea
○Flatulence
○Vomiting
○Stomach Cramps
