Mendel’s Laws:
A
- George Mendel is the “father of genetics”
- He did experiments on pea plants and showed how certain characteristics were passed on from generation to generation

A
The study of how traits are passed down from parent to offspring

Vocabulary
A
- Dominant Traits: most common, will always beat out a recessive trait. Given a capital letter
- Recessive Traits: least common, will always lose to a dominant trait. Given a lower case letter
- Codominace: two traits are equally dominant meaning both traits show up in the offspring
- sex-linked: a trait associated with a gene that is carried only by the male or female parent
- polygenic: a trait that is controlled by a group of nonalleic genes (called poly gene) supplement
- multiple alleles: a single trait has several different forms.
