What is generalised anxiety disorder?
Anxiety is generalised and persistent
Persistent nervousness, trembling, muscular tensions, wearing, light headed ness, palpitations, dizzy, epigrams trip discomfort
How long does anxiety have to last for GAD?
Most days for 6 months
Typical onset of GAD?
20-40 yrs old
Is GAD more common in males or females?
Females, 2:1
Treatment of GAD?
CBT
SSRIs/ SNRIs
Pregabalin
Benzodiazepines but only for SHORT TERM
What is panic disorder?
Recurrent attacks of severe anxiety which aren’t restocked to any particular situation - unpredictable
What are the dominant symptoms in anxiety disorder?
Sudden onset palpitations
Chest pain
Chocking sensation
Dizziness
Onset of panic disorder?
Late adolescence to mid 30s
Treatment of panic disorder?
CBT
SSRIs/SNRIs / tricyclics
Benzodiazepines for SHORT TERM only
