9
Q

What is a typical onset of radial nerve pasly?

A

Someone who has fell asleep drunk with their arm over the back of a chair or something.
This puts pressure on the radial nerve causing the palsy

->reason being drunk or not fully conscious is relevant as would not feel pins and needles

16
Q

In which type of condition may there be a distracted tremor?

A

Functional neurological disorder

17
Q

What is meant by a distracted tremor?

A

A tremor which increases with attention and decreases or disappears when distracted

18
Q

Which sign is indicative of functional neurological problems?

A

Hoover’s Sign

19
Q

Stiffness usually suggests spasticity. Is spasticity an UMN or LMN sign?

A

UMN

20
Q

If the bladder is impacted, it it more likely to be an UMN issue or LMN issue?

A

UMN

21
Q

If there is a positive Babinski sign (big toe bends up rather than down when lightly running blunt end of neurotip from heel upwards), is this suggestive of an UMN or LMN isuue?

A

UMN

22
Q

Are peripheral nerve problems due to UMN or LMN?

A

LMN

23
Q

Polyneuropathy?

A

General degeneration of peripheral nerves

24
Q

What usually causes cauda equina syndrome?

A

Herniated disc in lumbar spine

25
Q

If there are UMN signs in all four limbs, what is probably affected?

A

Spinal cord

26
Q

What can cause polyneuropathy?

A

Alcohol
Diabetes

27
Q

If there was a tumour of the spinal cord, more specifically the cauda equina, which type of symptoms would you expect to see?

A

Bladder or bowel symptoms

28
Q

What is seen in muscle in those with motor neurone disease?

A

Muscle wasting/atrophy

28
Q

Motor neurone disease is a progressive disease which causes what?

A

Progressive weakness

29
Q

Which nerves are affected first in polyneupathy?

A

Longest nerves so nerves to the feet

30
Q

What is the maximum score on GCS?

A

15

31
Q

What is the minimum score on GCS and what does it suggest?

A

3- they are in complete coma
