Ascites
Build up of fluid in the space between abdo lining and organs. Often symptom of cirrhosis.
Barretts esophagus
Chronic inflammation - precancerous
Cholecystitis
Inflamm of gall bladder - acute or chronic. No rx if asymptomatic.
Cirrhosis of liver
Scarring replaces healthy liver tissue. Hep C, Alcoholism
Crohns disease
inflammation of bowel and GIT - non-bloody diarrhea
Patchy wounds/inflammation
Esophageal varices
Abnormal enlarged veins in lower esophagus - serious liver disease. Normal blood flow to the liver is obstructed by scar tissue in the liver or a clot.
Gastritis
Inflammation of stomach mucosa.
Hepatic encephalopathy
Worsening of brain function due to liver failure - no longer removing toxic substances. Child-pugh scores tod determine survival.
Hepatomegaly
Swelling of the liver - infection, toxicity, tumors or metabolic disorder.
Malabsorption syndrome
impaired intestinal absorption of nutrients - CF celiac disease, crohns, pancreatitis, pernicious anemia, NSAIDS, anorexia, weight loss, bloating, pain.
inability for mucosa to absob nutrients.
Ulcerative colitis
inflammation of bowel - bloody diarrhea, mucus, pus
Referred pain: Liver/gallbladder
Right neck and shoulder, right upper quadrant
Referred pain: Lung/diaphragm
Left neck and shoulder
Referred pain: Heart
Left chest and arm, between shoulder blades
Referred pain: Stomach
Center of chest and center of back
