The year 2000 was the millennium year, wherein the World Health Organization together with global communities from United Nation (UN) summit created a historic commitment that envisions to eliminate extreme poverty and improve the health and wellness of people from countries that belong in the poverty line
Millennium Development Goals or MDGs

Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
Achieve universal primary education
Promote gender equality and empower women
Reduce child mortality rate
Improve maternal health
Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other diseases
Ensure environmental sustainability
Develop a global partnership for development
Decrease poverty in poor and developing countries
Achieve decent employment and livelihood for women, men, and young people
