Functions Of Renal Tubules Flashcards
What are the two types of tubules?
Proximal convoluted tubule (PCT)
Distal convoluted tubule (DCT)
What is PCT responsible for?
Reabsorption of glucose, amino acids, water
What is loop of Henle consists of?
Thin descending part
Thin ascending part
Thick ascending part
What is thin descending part responsible for?
Highly permeable to H2O and nearly impermeable to sodium and urea
What is thin ascending part responsible for?
Less permeable to H2O and more to urea and sodium
What is thick ascending part responsible for?
Impermeable to H2O and urea
Permeable to Na+ Cl and K
What is DCT consist of?
Diluting segment
Late distal part
What is Diluting segment responsible for?
Impermeable to H2O and urea
What does late distal part have?
Aldosterone → causes Na+ reabsorption and excretion of k+ or H+
Antidiuretic hormone ( ADH )→ H2O reabsorption
