What is Gross Anatomy?
Anatomy that can be seen with the naked eye
What is histology and cytology?
Histology - the study of tissues
Cytology - the study of cells
What is regional and systemic anatomy?
Regional Anatomy - the study of regions of the body (upper limb, thorax, etc)
Systemic Anatomy - the study of systems in the body (cardiovascual, digestive, etc)
What is sectional, surface, and mapping anatomy?
What are the body positions we need to know
Also the anatomical position.
What is the standard position for physical examination?
Physician on the right side of the patient
Which of the anatomical directional terms are mostly used in embryology?
Ventral, dorsal, cranial or rostral, caudal
What is a parasagittal plane?
A sagittal plane that does not divide the body into equal halves.
What are the names given to planes that divide the body or an organ into superior and inferior portions?
Transverse, horizontal, axial, and/or cross sectional
How can you tell the difference between a MRI and CT image?
In an MRI the bones are dark. They are white in a CT.
What is circumdunction?
Circumduction refers to a conical movement of a body part, such as a ball and socket joint or the eye. Circumduction is a combination of flexion, extension, adduction and abduction.
