FLIGHT CONTROLS Flashcards
Which spoilers are used for ROLL / GRND / SPEED BRAKES?
ROLL: 2,3,4,5
GRND: 1,2,3,4,5
SPD BRAKES: 2,3,4
How many hydraulic actuators for respectively AILERON/ELEV/RUDDER?
AILERON: 2
ELEV: 2
RUDDER: 3
What happens to an operating elevator if the other one is faulty?
The deflection of the remaining elevator is limited to avoid excessive a-symetric loads
If there is no electrical control of an elevator, what happens to it?
It automatic switches to the centering mode
What happens to a Spoiler that loses hydraulic pressure when extended or retracted?
EXT: Will retain deflection but will be aerodynamically pushed down
RETR: Will be mechanically locked down
The opposite spoiler will be inhibited
What happens if a SPOILER FAULT is detected?
Spoiler is retracted to the 0 position
Opposite spoiler is inhibited
If the speed brake is auto-retracted due to circumstances, how can speed brake function be re-astablished?
When the inhibition conditions disappear AND The pilot resets the lever THAN speed brakes are usable after 10 sec reset
What restrict the rate of speed brake retraction?
If AP is engaged and speed is > 315 knots or M.75
“full” deflection to down +/- 25 sec
What triggers GRND SPOILER deployment when ARMED?
IAS > 72 knots and THR LEVERS IDLE at TO
Weight on wheels + THR LEVERS IDLE at LND
What triggers GRND SPOILER deployment when spoilers are NOT ARMED?
IDLE REV THRUST
What is the relationship between RUDDER TRIM and AP?
NONE
FMGC computes RUDDER TRIM orders
What is the function of the RUDDER TRAVEL LIMITER?
To limit rudder and pedal deflection at different speeds
What happens with the RUDDER LIMITER if FAC 1&2 fail at 340 knots and how is the restriction removed?
- Goes to minimum deflection
- Is removed at slats extension (Flap 1)
