Fentanyl interacts with opiod receptors in the brain to provide analgesia
• Hypotension • Bradycardia • Drowsiness • Nausea and vomiting • Respiratory depression • Muscular rigidity (particularly muscles of respiration)

• Significant pain
KSAR
• Patients <1 year old
Elderly and frail (doses should be halved) • Hypotension • Respiratory tract burns • Respiratory depression or failure • Addiction to narcotics • Current MAIO therapy

ADULT DOSAGES
A
Adult: NAS- ≥70 yrs - 25-50mcg Repeat up to 50mcg every 10mins if required <70yrs - 50-100mcg Repeat up to 100mcg every 10 mins if required Max dose 200mcg EMT 2 IM ≥70 yrs - 25-50mcg Repeat up to 50mcg every 10mins if required <70yrs - 50-100mcg Repeat up to 100mcg every 10 mins if required Max dose 200mcg EMT 2 IV Dilute 100mcg/2ml Fentanyl with 8ml NaCl 0.9%in a 10ml syringe ≥70 yrs - 25-50mcg Repeat up to 50mcg every 10mins if required <70yrs - 50-100mcg Repeat up to 100mcg every 10 mins if required Max dose 200mcg
