What are the actions and indications of Adrenaline
A
A: Stimulate the alpha/beta receptors of the sympathetic nervous system. Is a vasodilator.
Increases heart rate by firing the SA node. Increases rate of conduction through the AV node. Increase is Myocardial contractility and ventricular excitability. Causes bronchodilation
Indication: cardiac arrest, asystole, VF, VT, PEA, anaphylaxis, croup, bronchospasms/ silent ches

Side effects, contrainidcations & Precautions
A
Side effects: hypotension, palpitations, tachyarrhythmia’s, pupil dilation, tremor, anxiety
Precautions: hypertension, hypovolemic shock, concurrent MOI therapy
Contraindications: None

Adult Dosages: Anaphylaxis: (EpiPen) 300mcg Bronchospasms: IM: Adrenaline 500mcg (0.5mL) (300mcg if pregnant) Repeat every 5 mins if needed Cardiac arrest: Adrenaline 1:1,000 1mg/1mL Repeat every 3-5min if required paedatric dosages: Anaphlaxsis: >6 years (EpiPen) 300mcg <6 years Adrenaline - (EpiPen Jr) 150mcg IM: Adrenaline 1:1,000 1mg/1mL >6yrs - 300mcg >1yr - <6yrs - 150mcg >6mths - <1yr - 100mcg <6mths - 50mcg Repeat every 5 mins if required Broncospasms/ silent chest; Adrenaline 1:1,000 1mg/1mL >6yrs - 300mcg >1yr - <6yrs - 150mcg >6mths - <1yr - 100mcg <6mths - 50mcg Croup: NEB: Adrenaline (1:1000) 1mg/1ml 5mg Cardiac arrest: Adrenaline 1:1,000 1mg/1mL >10kg (≥1yr) - 10mcg/kg <10kg (excluding newborn) - 100mcg Newborn - 50mcg Repeat every 3-5mins if required
