What is Self-image?
Refers to how people view themselves
What is Self-esteem?
Refers to whether a person has feelings of high or low worth
What is religion?
An organized system of beliefs that generally contain a code of conduct and often involve specific devotional or ritual observations
What is spirituality?
An abstract construct that includes participation in spiritual activities such as meditation, chanting or prayer. Places emphasis on mind, body, spirit connection
Authoritarian parenting style
Reinforces the role of parents as controllers and decision makers. Children are rarely given input into decisions impacting their lives. Results: low on happiness scale, tend to be obedient and proficient
Authoritative parenting style
Greater sense of democracy, children are given some input into decisions affecting their lives. Healthy balance between firmness and affection
Permissive parenting style
More expressive, children can do more of what they please due to few rules and no consequences will be given. Children tend to experiment more problems in school/relationships with others leading unhappy lives
Uninvolved parenting style
Parents are emotionally or physically unavailable. They do not set clear expectations but overreact when a child doesn’t understand what is expected
