ethnocentric bias:
belief that their own culture is superior to others which often results in prejudice towards other cultures
multiculturalism:
the norm is to promote diversity and tolerance among different cultures and beliefs leading to less prejudiced behaviours

Guimond (2013):
claimed countries promoting multiculturalism were less prejudiced. ranks stated Canada (multi-cultural) was least prejudiced and Germany (largely monocultural) was most prejudiced proving multiculturalism reduces prejudice
Chow (2000):
looked at workplace interactions of employees and found chinese (collectivist) employees less willing to share info with outgroup compared with americans (individualist). shows collectivists prioritise in group over outgroup showing prejudice
Katz and Braly (1933):
asked americans to pick 5-6 traits out of 84 to best rep minority ethnic groups and found they often labeled african americans as lazy/superstitious and jews as shrew. proves ethnocentric biasand prej towards outgroups

adorno et al 1950
sherif 1954
sherif (1954):
found that creating competition between rattlers and eagles caused prej. shows prej is caused by competiton not cultural factors
Adorno et al. (1950):
found those with authoritarian personality more likely to be hostile to those not in their ingroup or who they view as having inferior status. shows prej is caused by personality and not cultural factors
balanced conc:
+can predict who is going to be prej based on what culture they belong to
-could lead to labelling individuals belonging to collectivist cultures as prejudiced despite no personal evidence
