Exosomes and Metastasis Flashcards
Metastasis definition
the development of secondary malignant growths at a distance from a primary site of cancer.
What are some effects cancerous EVs could have on the micro environment?
o Persistent migration: use of EVs to pave the way that the cell moves
o Formation and stabilization: EVs remodel surrounding tissue to allow cancer cell anchorage
o ECM remodeling: EVs will disrupt ECM to facilitate passage of cancer cell and pass along resistance
What is the role of EGFR in metastasis
It invades the membrane of liver cells and represses miR26a/b
What is the role of HGF?
As Hepatocyte growth factor, it is linked to cancer and tumor development
What is HGFs receptor, and what role does it play?
C-met: widely expressed in different forms of cancer
What pathway is HGF - cMet pathway associated with?
Proliferation, angiogenesis
Of the two, HGF or cMET, which is more highly expressed in liver metasteses?
cMET
What miR does EGFR target in order to activate HGF?
miR 26a/b
What is the best place for a miR to bind for inhibiton of target?
3’UTR
