Indications for examining the bone marrow
A
ONLY by indirect, there is no direct exam
Based on patho findings of other organs e.g
Mucus membranes- anaemia
Lymph nodes- lymphadenomegaly, leukemia
Bone marrow suppression

Haematology
FNA and cytology of lymph nodes
Cytology and biopsy of the bone marrow

A
Palpation through the abdomen
Behind stomach on left-side
ONLY palpable if enlarged

Infection
Immune-mediated disorders
Tumour
Haematoma- older animals
