What are Health Maintenance Organizations
They are prepaid, group-managed care plans that allow subscribers to recieve all the medical services that they require through a group of affiliated providers
What are Preferred Provider Organization (PPOs)
They allow a third party payer to contract with a group of health care providers to provide servicees at a lower fee in reeturn for prompt payment and a guaranteed volume of patients and services
What is care coordination?
deliberate organization of patient care activites between two or more participants involved in a patients care to facilitate the appropriate delivery of health care services
Four ways to pay for health care?
Out-Of-Pocket Payment
Individual Private Insurance
Employer-Based Group Private Insurance
Government Financing
What is Part A of medicare?
This pays for most impatient hospital costs and is paid for by the federal government
What is Part B of medicare?
Voluntary, and is paid by a monthly premium, and it covers most outpatient costs for physician visits, medications, and home health services
What is Medicaid?
It is a federally funded public assistance program for people of any age who have low incomes; for the blind, older adults, and disabled.
What is an inpatient?
A person who enters the hospital and stays overnight for an indeterminate time.
What are ambulatory care centers?
Facilities that deliver outpatient medial care. An example would be a Kroger Clinic Walk In.
What do extended-care services provide?
Provide medial and nonmedical care for people with chronic illnesses or disabilites
