they are generally defined as nonprofit entities independent of governmental influence (although they may receive government funding).
NGO’s provide expertise and experience in a community organisation (which governmental services don’t possess), the increase delivery of community based primary health care, they have special emphasis on health promotion, prevention and education
NGO’s participate in national co-ordination for national food and nutrition plans, national co-ordination for HIV/AIDS prevention and control programme, financial support to citizens via fundraising programmes
