Ethics Level 2 Flashcards
If the hospitality event invitation was outside the tender period would you have accepted?
In my example it was a lavish awards night and it was not proportionate so it would have been suitable even outside a tender period.
I would risk assess and be diligent about any gifts or hospitality.
If the offer was in good faith, proportionate and wasn’t a bribe and say for example if a few people from my firm were going then yes. I would and disclose this within the hospitality register.
If the event would influence my bias, non-proportionate and impaired my impartial judgement, I would not.
Why did you decline the invitation?
- My integrity would have been at risk.
- Portrayed corruption
- bias
- unfairness.
- The event was not proportionate as it was a lavish events evening.
This would have gave the wrong impression about myself, my firm and the RICS as I have a CSR.
If I did accept it wouldn’t have been appropriate and would had to disregard the contractors bid and I would not have treat the contractor in the best interests or respect.
