what is informed consent?
it is when the participants are asked to give permission for participating in the investigations after being briefed about the investigation itself, the aims and their right to withdraw
how can investigators prevent the issue of consent?
by giving an official document that asks for their consent with outlines of the investigation , ect..
what is deception?
it is the act of lying, misleading or hiding the truth from the participants (also no informed consent)
how can investigators prevent the issue of deception?
simply do not lie and be honest about the procedures that will be occurring or simply let them know at the end (full details and real aims) and allow them to have the right to withdraw
what is ‘protection from harm’ ?
being able to prevent any harm occurring to the participants and also being able to help them if needed and this is both physically and psychologically
how to protect the participants from harm?
don’t do anything obviously dangerous, if here are then make sure the participants are informed and warned, make sure they have the right to withdraw whenever, reassure them throughout, have experienced people and saftey measures in places and provide counselling or help lines
what is ‘privacy and confidentiality’ ?
the right to be able to keep the participants information and data safe, controlled and protected legally
how to enforce privacy and confidentiality?
by keeping personal data legally protected, not spreading any of their information without consent, by being anonymous, don’t push to give answers if they cannot, refer to participants by numbers, keep everything safe
