- urine microscopy, culture and sensitivity
- chlamydia and gonorrhoea NAAT testing
- charcoal swab of purulent urethral discharge for gonorrhoea
- saliva swab for PCR for mumps
- serum antibodies for mumps (IgM- acute, IgG- previous infection)
- USS- torsion or tumours
