Q

How do competitive inhibitors work and what is their affect on Km and Vmax?

A
  • Tend to resemble the substrate
  • Bind to active site
  • Km increases
  • Vmax remains the same

8
Q

How do non-competitive inhibitors work and what is their affect on Km and Vmax?

A
  • They bind to a non active site on the enzyme.
  • The substrate can still bind to the active site so Km remains the same
  • Vmax decreases.
