effect of the angle of incidence of the suns rays Flashcards
explain the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays
at the equator rays of sunshine will heat a certain area. however, at the poles, the same amount f heat rays will be required to heat a much larger surface area. the heat is therefore dispersed over a wider area.
explain how at the equator rays will pass through less atmosphere than the poles
another effect that can be observed is the amount of atmosphere which the rays must pass through
fewer rays pass through the atmosphere at the equator compared t the pole. this means that at the equator, less insolation will be absorbed and reflected by clouds and scattered by dust than at the poles where rays must pass through a greater thickness of atmosphere
what is the effect of the angle of incidence of the sun rays
the combined effects of increasing surface area to be heated and a greater thickness of atmosphere for rays to pass through means that substantially less insolation is received on the surface at the poles compared with the equator
draw a diagram to show the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays
