Direct skin contact with chemical or allergen- Irritant v allergen
Contact derm- Sx
Bizarre, asymmetric patterns, hot and swollen.
Allergen- weeping & crusting, prurites, vesicles and bullae
Irritant- red & scaly, not vesicular
Contact derm- Dx
Rule out impetigo or scabies
Contact derm- Tx
Corticosteroids- topical or oral, itch relief, compress. Removal of irritant
Atopic dermatitis- Eti
Family history, manifests with allergic rhinitis and asthma, childhood onset
Atopic dermatitis– Sx
Severe pruritus, on flexural surfaces, neck, rough red plaques, lichenification, weeping, vesicular dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis– Dx
Must have 4:
- Pruritus
- Early age of onset
- Typical morphology and distribution
- Chronically relapsing
- Personal or fan hx of asthma, rhinitis, atopia

Bathing & moisturizing, topical corticosteroids- triamcinalone, moisturizers against flares
Lichen simplex- Eti
self perpetuating scratch-itch cycle
Lichen simplex-Sx
Skin lines exaggerated, rectangular, thickened patches- neck, ankles or perineum

Superpotent topical corticosteroids- occlusion
Nummular Eczema-Eti
Common in extremities, winter

Coin shaped plaques- chronic, pruritic, inflammatory on erythematous base
