economic fieldwork Flashcards
what is the location of Stratford
it is located in the east of London near the river Thames in the borough of new ham
why was stratford a good place to carry out this investigation
it was close to school
we had already learnt about it
safe environment to carry out fieldwork
(this is good knowledge for a 2 marker)
backgroundof the olympic games
Newman is one of the most deprived areas in London and it has held the Olympic games there
what were the key aims of this regeneration
create new jobs
improve the environmental quality of east London
improve the quality of life
what risks were there in stratford
extreme weather
getting lost
unknown people
traffic vecheils
the river lee
tripping/falling
what was the environmental quality survey why did we choose this and what was its limitations
visit 10 locations around Stratford Olympic park and score them on a scale o -2 to +2
we choose this to compare areas around the park to se if the environment is better in regenerated areas we can also compare it old photos to see if there has been improvement
we can only record this data at one time therefor making it in accurate
improve the method by completing each of the group working out an average
what is a questionnaire why did we choose it and how did it help us and what ere the limitations
at each location we asked one person a set of questions from a sheet
this will help give us peoples opinions on the regeneration of the area so we can see if they think it was positive
some people may not want to answer the questions and may not have lived in the area long so don’t know hat it was like before
we could improve thus by sending an online version to people so they can choose to answer it or not and it would also avoid asking non local people
what is a pedestrian count why did we choose it and what are its limitations
at each of the 10 sites we counted the number of people who pass a point during a 2 minute time
this helped show us which areas of the Olympic park were the busiest
this can be difficult to count people if it is very busy which would lead to it being inaccurate
can use secondary data to help improve or work out an average
what is a sustainability survey why did we choose and what are its limitations
at each location we looked for any reasons for sustainable features such as solar panels
this will help show if the sustainability has been successful
some sustainable features may be difficult to count
we could use secondary data as well as our own to ensure we get even findings
how did photographs help us why did we choose it and what is it limitations
take 10 photos at each place4 and match them with photos from prior the regeneration
this will help us compare the area from pre-regeneration to post regeneration
however we are limited by photos available to us on the internet
what is your economic fieldwork question
has the regeneration of Stratford been successful
how do you answerer the potential risk questions
you identify a risk such as getting lost
and talk about how it can be reduced i.e supply every student with a map
how do you answer the access the effectiveness of your data collection method questions
you write the title of your human geography enquiry and do 2 PEEL paragraphs to get the full answer
what do you write in the conclusion
conclusion you need to write about has the environment been improve in a couple sentences referencing to your data collection methods
do local residents and visitors think the area has improved
answer the questions in a couple sentences and refer to the questionnaire

are the result representatives did we sample enough locations or collect data enough time
are the conclusions if there are issues with the data collections results sample size etc.
for the analysis questions you should do whatfor humangeography
