what are the classifications of visuals:
chart, graph, table, diagrams, visual images, maps
- It comes from the Latin word ‘charta’, meaning ‘paper’
- It is a graphical representation of data using symbols that are usually boxes, lines, and arrows.
- Its general purpose is to show ranks, levels, procedures, and classifications.
- Two common type of charts are the organizational chart and the flow chart.

- It comes from the Greek word ‘graphe’, meaning ‘writing’.
- It shows data using line graphs, circles for pie graphs, and pictures for pictographs. Each type of graph has a specific function and purpose.
bar graphs
This shows trends and changes in data. Usually, the bottom grid scale represents time.
line graph
This uses vertical and horizontal bars that compare amounts and quantities.

It is also known as pie graph, it uses pie-shaped sections to show the relationship of the parts to the whole in percentages and proportions.
circle graph
- It is the representation of data using images.
- represent the frequency of data while using symbols or images that are relevant to the data.
- This is one of the simplest ways to represent statistical data.
pictographs
- comes from Latin tabula, meaning ‘flat, tablet, or list’
- It is useful in displaying numbers or words in columns and rows in an orderly way
- It is normally a structured set of numbers or words, in columns and rows.
- It contains headings on the top and on the far left side.
tables
It is a simple drawing which consists mainly of lines and is used, for example, to explain how a machine works.
