DSA - Acid/Base Physiology Flashcards
1
Q
PHa < 7.35 = ?
PHa > 7.45 = ?
A
< = acidosis > = alkalosis
2
Q
Increasing the HCO3 does what to the pHa? What about decreasing it?
A
Increasing will increase the pHa - bicarb is trying to get ride of pHa and make the body more alkolitic, thus increasing the pHa and dropping the CO2
Decreasing will make the body more acidotic, dropping the pHa and making the body more aciotic
3
Q
Any change in the bicarbonate is considered what
A
Metabolic
4
Q
Increase in CO2 will always mean what
A
A decrease in pHa and more acidotic and the body will try to buffer it out by creating more HCO3
5
Q
Anything that changes the CO2 is considered what
A
Respiratory
