DQ-146 Flashcards
Q1. The #1 FUEL PRESS caution illuminates, after moving the ENG FUEL SYS selector to XFD the caution remains. Where was the fuel system compromised?
A fuel leak occuring in the oil cooler access area may result in fuel and/or fumes accumulating in or around the APU/engine compartments.
Q2. With the illumination of the #1 FUEL PRESS caution should a “normal” shutdown be conducted after landing?
If the situation is critical - such as a fuel leak - a running engine may be a possible ignition source.
In the case the situation is critical, the EP says: EMER ENG SHUTDOWN
-10 para 9.25.4
Q3. What iffect, if any, would a #1 FUEL FILTER BYPASS caution have on fuel management procedures?
The EP says, that we put the affected engine in XFD, and therfore all the fuel in the original tank is now unusable.
Therfore, recalculate burnout time and reserve entry time based on the now usable fuel remaining.
Q4.
Ref: -10 pg. 2-104.1
Q5. During refueling is it acceptable for small amounts of fuel to drain from vents? Is Conoco Jet-60 an approved fuel or will it require additives?
- CAUTION: If fuel is observed flowing from vent, discontinue refueling and make an entry on DA Form 2408-13-1. (-10 Pg. 2-107)
- Yes, conoco Jet-60 is JET A-1, but may not have required additives, unless it is specificaly stated. From the note in the table, PRIST shall be added to commercial fuels. (-10 table 2-5, pg. 2-113)
Q6. Give two instances when it is acceptable for a fuel pressure caution to momentarily or intermittently illuminate.
- During engine start (para 8.20 note pg. 8-1)
- When the helicopter returns to a neutral or positive attitude after extended operation at nose down attitudes with fuel boost pumps off. (para 5.26.a note pg. 5-20)
