DQ-140 Flashcards
Explain the differences between taxi, hover taxi, and air taxi.
Taxi is performed on the ground.
Hover taxi is performed low to the ground, when taxi isn’t possible
Air taxi is taxiing at altitude up to 100’ AGL
On a VFR flight with a true course of 357 degrees, a magnetic variation of 5 degrees WEST, a wind of 270 at 15 knots what altitude should/must you fly?
357+5= 002
Course will be EAST of 360, altitude should be ODD thousands +500’, above 3000’ AGL
Albany/Southwest GA Regional (ABY) ATIS reports ceiling 1100’ BKN, winds 130 at 12 knots, altimeter 29.87. The IFR supplement states pattern altitude is 1000 MSL and field elevation is 197’. How does weather affect pattern entry?
Class D airspace, we have 300’ cloud clearence.
Therefore you must request SVFR or adjust the pattern altitude to 800’ MSL
Albany/Southwest GA Regional (ABY) ATIS reports the field is IFR, 600’ SCT, ceiling 900’ BKN, 2000’ OVC, visibility 2 miles, wind 130 at 12 knots, altimeter 29.87. Why is the field IFR and how could you depart on a VFR flight plan?
The field is IFR because the ceiling and visibility is below 1000’ and 3. (The controlled airspace extendeds to the ground)
If you want to depart on a VFR flight plan, you can depart using SVFR minimas.
After departing Albany/Southwest GA Regional (ABY), how may you open your VFR flight plan?
Contact the nearest FSS on the radio and open your flight plan.
What are the three methods of hazard elimination controls and which is the preferred method?
- Engineering.
- Administrative.
- Personal Protective Equipment. (PPE)
The preferred method is to control the hazard at its source, through engineering. Engineering is preferable because, unlike other controls, it generally focuses on the individual who is exposed.
