DQ-130 Flashcards
When first placing the BATT switch ON which CHIP cautions should appear and for how long.
A caution that does not appear indicates what?
Chip lights appear for 45-70 sec.
CHIP MAIN MDL SUMP - after 30 sec delay/ approx. 30 sec ON
Chip CAUTION that does not appear indicates failed test on chip detector circuit (check logbook, to verify installed)
Which of the following gearboxes may run without oil for 30 minutes?
Main module; Intermediate gearbox; Tail Rotor gearbox.
Intermediate gearbox & Tail Rotor gearbox.
Explain the chip detector fuzz burn feature, when it is deactivated, and how deactivation affects the detector.
The fuzz burn-off feature prevents false warnings by burning off small chips and fuzz.
The fuzz burn-off feature is deactivated when oil temperature reaches 140°C.
Deactivation of the fuzz burn-off feature does not disable detection and appearance of cautions.
May an engine be started with the gustlock engaged and, if so, why would it be done and who may do it?
Yes, by authorized pilots only.
For ground maintenance test purpose
One engine up to IDLE speed
Gust lock must not be dissengaged with eng running
(All strap-down / tie-down must also be removed)
Given the following cruise conditions what is the Maximum Torque Available (DE) and explain how is it calculated:
TEMP 40 Degrees
PA 2000’
Cruise Airspeed 120 KIAS
ETF (ATF) 1.0/.92 (.96)
ACFT GWT 20000 LBS
Max (DE) TRQ avialable:
TRQ factor (ratio) chart (ATF and/or ETF TRQ ratio) ->
Max TRQ Available chart (10 min/ DE) ->
Read TRQ Available x (multiply) with TQ Ratio =
10 min lim. ATF (DE) -> 106% (Cruise chart)
Given the conditions in question #5 explain how to compute Maximum Torque Available using TAB DATA.
If there is difference in answers between question #5 and #6 explain why.
TEMP 40 Degrees
PA 2000’
Cruise Airspeed 120 KIAS
ETF (ATF) 1.0/.92 (.96)
ACFT GWT 20000 LBS
Ref: TAB DATA CL P-63
ETF 1.0 = 109 %
ETF 0.9 = 98 %
109% + 98% / 2 = 104%
TAB DATA gives 104 % (vs 106 % using chart)
You have to use ETF 0.9 vs 0.92 (conservative), wich gives you a slight lower Max TQ Avail.
What serves as a standard format for identifying hazards, on or off duty?
The mission variables — mission, enemy, terrain and weather, troops and support available, time available, and civil considerations (METT-TC) - serve as an Army standard format for identifying hazards, on- or off-duty.
