DQ-141 Flashcards
What are the indications of a SAS Failure with No Failure Advisory? Give a reason SAS 1 would be turned off first and why is FPS turned off?
Moderate tip path oscillations often accompanied with pounding sounds or “knocking” which may be felt in the cyclic or pedal controls.
SAS 1 is turned off because it does not contain diagnostic capabilities, FPS is turned off because it needs both SAS and trim to funciton.
(Fredrik: FPS needs SAS 1 and/or 2, BOOST & TRIM - Martin)
FLT PATH STAB and Trim Fail cautions illuminate in level flight, when POWER ON RESET switches are pressed the cyclic moves approximately 1⁄2 inch left, and the FPS and TRIM fail cautions reappear, what was the malfunction?
Pitch FPS/trim hardover
While conducting shipboard operations the Master Caution illuminates followed by an uncommanded nose down movement, what may have occurred?
Stabilator or FPS/SAS failure
In addition to providing the “muscle” for FPS, TRIM provides what other functions?
Trim provides pitch, roll and yaw flight control position reference, and control gradient to maintain cyclic stick and pedals at a desired position.
IAW TC 3-04.33 explain how the cyclic and pedals are used in ground taxi. Explain the indications of excessive use of either.
Cyclic is used to maintain a level fuselage attitude during turning, slight forward cyclic is used to regulate speed. Excessive cyclic input may result in droop stop pounding.
Pedals are used to turn the aircraft.
Minimum single engine airspeed (departure) is the slowest the aircraft can fly:
At what PA/Temp?
At what altitude?
At what power setting?
Using which engine?
Decelerating below minimum SE airspeed will result in the aircraft descending and the rotor decreasing. T/F?
- MAX PA/TEMP
- T/O ALT
- Below 2.5 min power setting
- “Weakest” low ETF engine
- True
