DQ-127 Flashcards
The Stabilator is programmed to perform what five functions?
- Streamlines w/ rotor downwash @ low speeds (30 kts) to min. nose up attitude
- Collective coupling to minimize pitch attitude excursions from collective inputs, above 30 kts.
- Angle of Incidence decreases above 30 kts. To improve static stability.
- Lateral sideslip to pitch coupling to reduce susceptability to gusts. Stab up for right pedal, stab down for left pedal.
- Pitch rate feedback to improve dynamic stability. Dampen pitch excursions due to turbulence or G forces.
When is it appropriate to press the AUTO CONTROL RESET twice
If on battery power only.
If the stabilator is slewed up, regain automatic control by manually slewing stabilator full down, then push AUTO CONTROL RESET twice.
At airspeeds greater than 60knots, heading hold will be automatically disengaged, and coordinated turn engaged under what conditions?
- STICK TRIM switch is actuated in the lateral direction.
- TRIM REL switch is pressed and roll attitude is greater than prescribed limits.
- About 1⁄2 inch cyclic displacement and a roll attitude of about 1.5°. Heading hold is automatically reengaged and turn coordination disengaged upon recovery from the turn when the lateral stick force, roll attitude, and yaw rate are within prescribed limits.
What are the WARNINGS associated with BEFORE TAKEOFF and TAKEOFF?
BEFORE TAKE-OFF
WARNING
Pitot heat and anti-ice shall be on during operations in visible moisture with ambient temperature of 4°C (39°F) and below. Failure to turn pitot heat on in icing conditions can cause the stabilator to program trailing edge down during flight. If this occurs, manually slew the stabilator to 0°.
TAKE-OFF
WARNING
If the stabilator has not begun trailing edge up movement by 30 to 50 KIAS and manual control is not available, do not exceed placard KIAS limits or longitudinal control may be lost.
Given these departure conditions, what is the Predicted Hover Torque and how is it calculated?
- Temp 40 degrees
- PA 2000’
- AIRCRAFT GWT 20000
- Hover Height 10’
Use hover chart (P-65 in CL)
84% at 10 ft Hover
Explain the “two challenge rule” and which crew coordination objective you believe most applies to it.
- The two-challenge rule allows one crewmember to assume the duties of another crewmember who fails to respond to two consecutive challenges automatically.
- Cross-monitor performance.
