DQ-144 Flashcards
Explain when engine inlet anti-ice would be required and how to turn it on.
4 degrees OAT or below, with visible moisture. It is controlled with the #1 and #2 ENG ANTI-ICE switches on the upper console, and must automatically come on at 4 degrees or below OAT.
Is it possible to discharge a fire container with the battery in the off position (no other power applied), if so explain how.
Yes. Reserve fire extgh bottle is powered by the BATT UTILITY BUSS, which is always on, regardless of BATT switch position.
During run-up on a high ambient temperature day the APU OIL TEMP HI caution illuminates, what action is required?
(CH 9) APU CONTR switch - OFF. Do not attempt restart until oil level has been checked.
(CH2) During ground operation at high ambient temperatures the APU OIL TEMP HI caution may appear. If this occurs, the APU should be shut down immediately to prevent damage. After a 30-minute cooling period, the oil level should be checked.
Based on the following cruise PPC the aircraft is about to enter IMC conditions. Assuming the cockpit and/or Option II heater are on, should the engine anti-ice be turned on and if so, what effect will it have on aircraft performance?
- Yes, the conditions dictate that ENG ANTI-ICE should be on. But application of both ENG ANTI-ICE and cockpit/gunner heater reduces available torque by 22%, which is less than required cruise torque. This could droop the rotor.
- Regarding option II heater: (CH7A)
NOTE
Option II cabin heater system shuts off when anti-ice is turned on. Power to the heater returns when the anti-ice is turned off.
The use of commercial rain repellent on wind shields is prohibited due their fogging effect. True or False?
False.
-
NOTE
The use of rain repellent on the windshields will improve visibility above speeds of 50 KIAS. Rain repellent may be locally purchased. (-10 Para 2.54)
When should drag compensations be made on a performance planning card?
When the external equipment or configuration differs significantly from the clean or high drag configuration, drag compensations will be made. (TC 3.04-33 Pg. 4.13, task 1010)
