Reduces join destruction and slow disease progression
What are the adverse effects of Methotrexate?
Major toxicities such as: hepatic fibrosis bone marrow suppression GI ulceration pneumonitis Fetal death

What is Methotrexate excreted?
Through the kidneys
What is the MOA of Methotraxate?
Blocks the activation of folic acid which results in suppression of DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis.
What assessments do you want to do for a client who is prescribed methotrexate?
Routine blood work
CDC
Mandatory testing of kidney function
What is the primary use of Etanercept (Enbrel)?
To treat RA
What is the MOA of Etanercept?
Suppresses inflammation by neutralizing Tumor Necrosis Factor
What are the adverse effects of etanercept?
Injection site pain
Infection
increased risk of lymphoma
Liver injury
What kind of interactions should you check for before administering Etanercept?
Immunosuppressants Live viruses immunization Demyelinating disorders Severe HF Active infectons
