Break down large insoluble food molecules.
Also the products of the breaking down will be absorbed into the blood. To be transported to the cells

- Mouth started to break down starch
- Stomach:break down proteins
- small intestine: breakdown fats, protein and starch also lets the fat and protein absorb into the blood
- Absorb: small molecules pass from the small intestine into the blood
- large intestine: it’s Main job is to absorb water into the blood
