what is diffusion
the kinetic energy of the particles in a solution or gascauseing them to move about randomly which causes diffusion which is the spreadingout of moving particals going from a high to low consentraion

small intestine-projections of the villi and epithelial cells (micro villi) increase surface area
root hair cells increase the surface area of root to absorb mineral ions and water
leaves are adapted for gas exchange having large internal surface area for diffusion of gas is thin to reduce diffusion distance to cells.
how does diffusion increase across exchange surfaces
large surface area increasing the area of membrane available for molecules to diffuse across
thin membrane so diffusion distance is short
