What is gestational diabetes
Develops during pregnancy and effects women who haven’t been effected by diabetes before
What causes gestational diabetes
Hormones during pregnancy make it hard for the body to use insulin properly which increases the risk of insulin resistance
How can gestational diabetes affect the baby
Could cause abnormally fast growth leading to painful birth and distressed baby
Can cause neonatal hypoglycaemia
Induced labour
Baby being jaundice after birth
