DF8 + DF9 Flashcards
units in ideal gas equation
P = pressure in PASCALS V = volume in METRES CUBED n = moles R = gas constant JOULES PER KELVIN PER MOLE T = temperature in KELVIN
isomers
molecules with the same molecular formula, but differ in the way in which their atoms are arranged
structural isomers
same molecular formula, different structural formulas
eg. chain isomerism, functional group isomerism, position isomerism
stereoisomers
same molecular formular and atoms in same order, but atoms have different arrangement in space
eg. E/Z, optical isomerism
chain isomerism
with 4+ carbons in a chain there are different arrangements possible (butane and methylpropane)
position isomerism
molecules differ in location of functional group on the molecule
functional group isomerism
same molecular formula but arrangement of atoms results in different functional groups
E/Z isomerism
same molecular formular but atoms arranged differently in space
E - identical groups on opposite sides (one top one bottom)
Z - identical groups on same side (both top/both bottom)
