Drop a cotton puff in the front of the animal and watch reaction
Function: Vision control, head should follow movement of falling object

How do you test the pupillary light reflex and what is the function ?

Shine a bright light obliquely into each pupil observe pupils size and asymmetry or irregularity
Function: regulates the intensity of light entering the eye.
Great light intensity –> pupilla gets smaller
Low light intensity –> pupilla gets larger

How do you test the palpebral reflex and what is the function?

Answer 4

Touch the skin in the area of eyelids or on medial corner of eye, observe reaction.
Function: close eyes–> protection

How do you test the defensive reflex and what is the function ?

Answer 5

By moving the hand quickly towards the eye (do not touch) observe reaction of eye.
Function: close eye –>protection

How do you perform the edge examination and what is the function?

Answer 6

By lifting the animal up from the ground and push it towards the edge of the table… observe limb movements optic and tactile part (with blindfold)
