What are the three phases of a warmup?
Cardio vascular phase (pulse raiser) Stretching phase (dynamic or static) Sport specific phase
Stretching phase
Static: Easy, on the spot stretching without straining.
Dynamic: Stretches that use the movements specific to a sport, gradually increasing your reach and speed
Sport specific phase
Sprint starts
Practice throws
Take off for pole vaulters
Throwing catching and batting for cricket
Catching crosses, shot stopping for goal keepers
Cool down
Activities similar to a warm up are used to lower the heart rate back to resting level. The cool down usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes. This is then followed with 10 to 15 minutes of static strecthing
