A
After an intense period of exercise, the breathing rate will increase dramatically in order to pay back the oxygen used in this period.

What happens at the gas exchange in the alveoli?
A
The oxygen diffuses in to the blood stream and binds to the haemoglobin in the red blood cells, becoming oxyhemoglobin. This is then sent around the body
