A job done for you. Eg: The dentist, hairdressers.
RIGHT
Something you are entitled to.
RESPONSIBILITY
Everyone has these. Things one has to do.
RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The right to choice-Responsibility to make good choices.
Right to accurate info-Responsibility to read labels.
Right to safety-Responsibility to heed warnings.
Right to redress-Responsibility to know your rights.
WHAT’S A MONOPOLY
Where one supplier/manufacturer provides a service and there is no competition. They are the most popular.
QUALITY CONTROL
A series of tests carried out to make sure products are of merchantable quality.
SALE OF GOODS AND SUPPLY OF SERVICES ACT 1980
States that: Goods should be of merchantable quality, be as described (in ads or on label), correspond with samples (items must match).
Services: Supplier should have correct qualifications, supplier will be careful, materials used will be safe, any good should be of merchantable quality.
WHAT IS A GUARANTEE?
A promise made by the manufacturer to make good any faults in an item for a specific period of time after purchase.
CONSUMER INFORMATION ACT 1978
To protect consumers against false or misleading claims about goods, services or prices.
IT’S AN OFFENCE FOR A SELLER TO:
Make fake claims on prices.
Advertise a misleading price reduction.
Make misleading claims about goods or services.

VOLUNTARY AGENCIES
Consumer's Association of Ireland Trade associations (Eg: Irish hotels fed.)

Any object that is bought.
