Construction Tech SoE Flashcards
what were the minor investigations of the floor?
Lifting of sunken tiles
What did you do prior to the investigations
Consulted the the asbestos management plan - also has watching brief with lieceing contractor
What was the age of the property ?
1870
what was the build up of the floor ?
Compacted aggregate (sub floor base, sand, DPM, insulation, reinforcement, slab
What did you do to tie the DMP into the permeter of the wall
Tied in the DMP into the DPC, provided insulation on the permiter of the floor slab to avaoid thermal briding
What was the U value of the floor
0.18
What appoved docs for the floor?
A,C,L
Why anti graftie film ?
effective barrier against paints, sprays and scratches.
Why Roller shutters ?
To protect the frame from salt spray, if theres a storm and when the tenta isnt there, also suggeted timbers be treated
Why are the done together
more cost effecteive due to reomote location - only ave to tender once, contractor can coo-ordinate deleiver
Explain your partition build up ?
1) Corrugated metal sheet proffiles are filled with ascustic instation
2) 15mm glass roc board mecahniicaly fixed to the soffit
- provided a suitable abudtment between the defelection head and the roof soffit
3) The defection head consits of preformed two layers of platerboard sealed on tp the glas roc board with fire mastic
4)C chanenel is directly below the defection head
5) Stud centers fit into the C chanel with a mechnical fixing all the way to the soffit
6) austic insulation between the studs
7) Soundbloc plasterboard sheet wither side mechnaicllay fixed to the studs
8) C chanel - shot fired into concrete floor base
How did you ensure the emchnical fixings didnt puncture the waterproof layer ? - leeds
I reviewed as built drawings to determine thickness of the sheet to determine appropriat length of screws. thickness of the sheet was 150mm - 250mm - so chose 50mm length screws
How did you determine the that was an appropriate fixing ?
Carried out pull out tests
What is a pull out test ?
the screw is pulled with a tensile force to assess its strength and ability to withstand load
What was the build of the sandwhich panels?
metallic protected steel, which is the external weather sheet that has muti-layer organic coating. Insulating core to achieve a U-value 0.13. Internal linning sheet underneath
did your stair case breach the existing DPC - and how did you designaround that ?
yes, we postistioned the stairs 100mm away from external wall and specified the installation of an aco dain which drained the water to a near by gully
How did the panels join each other?
male/femal conectors
What was the ridge detail of the sandwhich panel
where the panels meet a ridge panel was installed with fire sealnt, then there gaps where filled with a foam filler
what pitch was the roof?
Dual
What was the length of the sheet compared to the roof
How was the roof fixed to the roof structure
per panel three pasterns were installed
how did you ensure the load was okay for the existing roof structure?
Specified King Span insulated panels - gave the manufactures information to the SE who deemed the weight of the existing roof to be the same if not slightly less then the existing and as such suitable but to avoid wind driven issues it to be aduatly tied into the structure. so we spec
any flahsings, drio details? rubber gaskets
The number of fasteners must be calculated based on spans, wind loads and fastener capacity.
what was the spacings of the fixings?
500
what was the Uvalue requirement for a roof
0.16 for pitched ,0.18 for flate
how were the edges coveed and flashing details
eave covering fastened on.
corners preformed flashing details
How was the ridge fixed
screw on each raised section of the profield sceet
