The Conditional Perfect
Is used to refer to an action that would have taken place but didn’t because something got in the way or some specified condition was not met. Stated or implied, there is always a “but” or “if” lurking about.
Haber conjugated in the conditional plus past participle
Habría, habrías, habría, habríamos, habríais, habrían
Conditional Perfect followed by the indicative
He would have gone to the movies with us, but he had a headache.
Él habría ido al cine con nosotros, pero le dolía la cabeza.
Conditional Perfect followed by the indicative
We would have invited the Joneses, but the last time they came to our house, they got sick.
Habríamos invitado a los Jones, pero la última vez vinieron a nuestra casa, se enfermaron.

I would have gone on a diet, but I don’t have much willpower.

To express conjecture or probability 1) In the relatively remote past -the “I suppose” is understood. 2) Time or date of a specific action
Where do you suppose she had hidden the money?
