What are the 4 factors that impact Carron’s conceptual model of cohesion?
1) Environmental factors
2) Leadership factors
3) Team factors
4) Personal factors
What are environmental factors? (Carron’s conceptual model of cohesion)
E.g., level of competition the team are playing at, how close together they live, strength of relationships with each other
What are leadership factors? (Carron’s conceptual model of cohesion)
Includes the behaviour of the leader, how secure their role is, and how well respected they are

Includes the extent to which team members have to interact or coact with each other
Also teams where members have a clear understanding of their role within the team, as they are all working toward the same objective
What are personal factors? (Carron’s conceptual model of cohesion)
Includes age, gender, race, social background of the team members
How do personal factors impact cohesion? (Carron’s conceptual model of cohesion)
Teams with greater similarities in personal factors are likely to have higher cohesion and avoid the development of cliques, as they all have something in common
