Cloud Deployment Models 3.7 Flashcards
Software as a Service (SaaS)
All the apps you need are in the cloud rather then on your system. This means the app AND the data are in the cloud. This also means you don’t have to develop your own software for this.
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
You outsource your equipment but you are still responsible for the management of apps and security. Your data is still out there but it is more secure because you are in control
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
No servers, no software, no maintenance, no HVAC. All you have to do is handle the development. You don’t have direct control of the data, people, or infrastructure. This is like using GeoCities back in the day to build a website on their servers/platform.
Cloud Deployment Models
Private cloud: Your own virtualized local data center.
Public cloud: Available to everyone on the internet
Hybrid cloud: A mix of private and public
Community cloud: Several organizations share the same resources.
