What are the clinical symptoms of chronic kidney disease?

What is the GFR in stage 1 compared to stage 5?
Stage 1 - over 90
Stage 5 - under 15 GFR
What are some risk factors for CKD?
Age, gender, socioeconomic status, heavy labour in hot countries, infections and non-communicable diseases
Complications of CKD?
CV disease, mineral/bone disorders and increased risk of other non cv disease (cancer/infection)
A large % of CKD patients experience other co-morbidities
What are the exercise recommendations for those with CKD?
The normal guidelines!
CKD individuals do tend to be quite deconditioned depending on age/disease status
What is haemodialysis and what are the exercise recommendations for an individual with this?
Haemodialysis is the process of kidney dialysis where the blood is purified for them.
Exercise can be performed on non-dialysis days but not immediately post dialysis. Emphasis should be on RPE scale as HR not always reliable
What is rhabdomyolysis?
Where skeletal muscle damage due to novel, strenuous overexertion can lead to acute renal failure.

What issues are associated with excessive fructose intake?
Linked to obesity, hypertension and diabetes which can in turn lead to CKD
