Chemisty || Equilibrium C12 Flashcards
Le Chatelier’s Principle?
The equilibrium position moves to minimise any changes you make.
What Is A Dynamic Equilibrium?
When the forward and backward reactions are both taking place at the same time.
Exothermic Direction?
This happens when you decrease the temperate,
This means the reaction will take place and produce more heat because you are taking heat away.
Endothermic Direction?
If you increase the temperature, the equilibrium will move in the endothermic direction to absorb more heat.
Increasing The Pressure In An Equilibrium?
The equilibrium will move in the direction that has fewer molecules of gas to reduce the pressure,
Molecules can be found at the start of the element,
E.g. 4MgCl2 has 4 molecules.
Decreasing The Pressure In An Equilibrium?
The equilibrium moves to towards the side that has more molecules of gas.
Increasing The Concentration In The Reactants?
Move to the right to use up all the reactants (to make more products).
Increasing The Concentration Of The Products?
Equilibrium will move to the left to use up all the products.
