Chapter7 Cell Division Flashcards
What is cell division?
Body cells that divide into in a series of stages called the cell cycle as materials are doubled up into two nucleus.
What is mitosis?
Is cell division in the cell cycle and produces 2 identical cells which provide the same genetic information.
Why is cell division by mitosis is so important in the body?
Because when you lose cell mitosis replaces all the dine cells and replaces new cells instead.
How does cells produce?
When the nucleus divides by mitosis are genetically identical.
Why is mitotic cell division so important?
For growth repair and development of multicellular organisms.
What does the cell need before it can divide?
Needs to grow and replicate the DNA to form 2 copies.
What is it called when cell divides in a series of stages?
The cell cycle.
What are found in pairs?
Chromosomes
What do the new cells need to repair?
Damage tissue
