Hallucinations
can occur in psychological disturbed individuals but also could happen to everyone. Visual hallucinations can be brought by oxygen and sensory deprivation, epilepsy, fever, dementia, and migraine headaches
Out of body experience
Sense of our consciousness leaving our body
Near death experience
experience reported by people who’ve nearly died or thought they were going to die
deja vu
strong feeling of familiarity regarding a new experience. People who travel a lot, experiences more deja vu
Mystical experiences
feelings of unity or oneness with the world, often with strong spiritual overtones. 12 areas of brain became activated when it happens. emotion cognition and perception.
Hypnosis
set of techniques that provides people with suggestions for alterations in their perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. High suggestibles more prone to hypnoses. Doesnt have a great effect on suggestibility, people can be into hypnosis even they are in physical activity. Increases the amount we recall, but inaccurate way, increases confidence by eyewitnesses in inaccurate memories
Sociocognitive theory
approach to explaining hypnosis based on people’s attitudes, beliefs, expectations and responsiveness to waking suggestions.
Dissociation theory
approach to explaining hypnosis based on a separation btw personality functions that are normally well integrated
